PREPPY, LIVE @ Theta-Chi

Well last night, the party was kickin’ and the smoothies were pourin’ as PREPPY played its first show ever at the Theta-Chi Fraternity @ M.I.T. After two brief rehearsals, both taking place the day of the show, and the day before, Preppy played a short but sweet set of prep classics including:

fascinated
second grade
happy (star corps academy)
passing notes
caroline

it was a good turnout and the music appeared to be well received. i saw a lot of new and familiar faces…my friend sarah actually showed up, which was a nice surprise, considering i haven’t seen her in forever it seems. people said that i should play out more, so we’ll see what happens. sandwiched between two more established bands, the broken word, and my friends for reasons unseen, it definitely felt good to be up there rocking out. I was surprised how comfortable i felt up there. Thanks to allen, joey and nate for helping to make it happen.
Here are some pics from the night:

Speaking of preppy, another show might be in the works…but more info as things develop. I will be post up a bootleg live clip of one of the songs from last night’s preppy set a little later.
In other news, the washington wizards were officially eliminated from the 2003 NBA playoffs, as the Milwaukee Bucks edged the Toronto Raptors in Toronto last night. Such a shame that MJ won’t be able to make his final appearance in the playoffs this year, but hopefully the younger guys have learned a lot from him. Only time will tell.
Well, I guess that’s all for now…i must be going…but thanks to all that came out to the show!
Peace in the middle east..

R.I.P. BACKUPP

Yes, it’s true. The “Backupp” Honda Civic is gonna have to go. Don’t have the time to fix it, so just decided to take a loss on it and try to get whatever I can for it. Tristan launched the auction today, so we’ll see what happens over the next 10 days. So sad, because it was such a good, reliable car; in great shape, and only had 54k miles on it. Hopefully it can make some ebay bidder happy. (click on the car for details)

Woke up around 9am today and then went to the breakfast club with Allen. It’s a cool little diner that’s near Harvard, in Brighton, where I used to live for my first year and a half @ berklee. I had never been before, but I had a killer omelette. Bacon and cheddar w/ home fries. Orange juice. mmm…okay getting hungry again…new subject..

Yeah, but anyway it was nice to sit down and chat about school, music, and of course…girls. Reminded me of back in the day; it was freshman year and Allen and I were going to the Pour House all the time. Talking endlessly about girls and relationships. I can’t believe it’s been nearly 4 years. Mind blowing. We haven’t grown one bit. haha..j/k.

In other news, the wizards won tonite. We beat the Portland Trailblazers, and are now 1/2 a game behind Milwaukee for the 8th and final playoff spot in the east. MJ, Stackhouse, and T-Lue had great games. Let’s hope that we can just keep the wins coming..

Alrighty, well that’s all for now…I gotta go to bed.

“I hear my mom comin…I gotta go to bed..”

Anybody guess what movie that quote is from? Don’t know? Well you’ll have to wait until NEXT entry for the answer! HA! Ok, enough of that. Sleepy time.

“Take the Money and Run”

So I turn on the television this morning while eating breakfast and I’m flipping through the channels, when I encounter some old flick from 1969 called “Take the Money and Run”, starring Woody Allen. I’m about to flip over when i see this gorgeous girl on screen. Then I just viewed in awe.

Sure her acting was pretty bad, but she was so freakin cute. Kinda like a Natalie Portman type deal. Haha. The part that I was so amazed about is that although the movie was dated, and all the other characters looked dated etc., for some reason she didn’t. It was like her beauty transcended the concept of time. I can totally picture her in movies today, and on television. She reminds me of someone, though I can’t quite put my finger on it.

Anyway, it turns out, she’s an actress named Janet Margolin, of whom I’ve never heard of, but has starred in various films since the 1960’s, including Ghostbusters II (1989) (the only movie i recognized) until she died in 1993 to ovarian cancer. So it goes..

I really couldn’t find many pictures of her, but click on the photo at the top to read more about her.

So last night me and Tris played basketball, for the first time since last summer. Let me just tell you that I can barely walk at the moment. For a good 2 1/2 hours we played hard at the indoor RECenter in Wakefield. After a few one-on-one competitions, we played a little two-on-two with some other kids, and then eventually had a 3-on-2 with some pretty experienced ballers. Almost pulled out a win, but we lost. We really need to build our stamina. By the end, we played another one on one match, and then we basically fell apart. Tris even collapsed to the ground a few times due to leg cramps. I didn’t collapse until after we left, when i got out of the car and i could barely walk. Craziness.

Well, I guess that’s all for now, but I’ll Be Back. (in Schwarzenegger type voice)
Peace.

Sweet Home Virginia

virginiaWell let me rephrase that. Sweet Home Northern Virginia, DC Area. There. That’s better. I ain’t no farmer.

So I arrived back on Friday morning. I actually missed my flight due to the slow “T” ride, but I was put on standby for the next flight and it was all good. It’s good to be home. Been spending a lot of time with family and keeping up to date with one other. Actually went to Borders, yet again on Saturday, me and my bro got chai and even got another can of the chai mix. Maricel tried chai for the first time the other day actually, and she went home with a can of the borders chai mix as well!! Haha..and she was so hesitant on trying it. I told you it was good.

Got to hang out with Tristan and Bruce on Saturday night to watch the Wizards game at Mariam’s house but when we got there, we realized that they didn’t get the channel! So that’s when i busted out the Nintendo Gamecube and we played NBA Live 2003 all night. Sort of felt bad, because we were being pretty anti-social at the party, but the bottom line is that we had a blast. After everyone had left, we decided to bust out Resident Evil Zero and have a few scares before going home. Freaky. Bruce probably had nightmares that night…j/k (messed up)

So like, yeah..that’s the haps on the craps. More later…in the meantime i think i’ll make a cup of chai…mmm..

Return of the Reflections

Well, what do you know? 17 months later..and i’m back! Funny how in these previous posts, i was working at the gap…because shortly thereafter..i quit! But guess what…this past Sunday, after a 17 month hiatus…I started up again! Gotta start making some extra cash..my monthly allowance just doesn’t cut it.

It was good to see that some of my old co-workers are now managers, so i just walked in and i had the job again. Worked a nice 11-6pm shift, yesterday..and it was time-and-a-half baby! I went to go eat at Cafe Aventura during my 15, but I was shocked to find that it is no longer in the Garage! So i ate at Pinocchio’s instead. Man, it was nice to be around Harvard Square again. I really missed just being around that area. I couldn’t help but smile on my way to work…hehe..

Well today was a rather rough day..i haven’t been very responsible about school work lately, and it all sort of just hit me today. It’s Midterm week. Where did the semester go? I’m already halfway through my final semester and I haven’t done that much work. :-\ The only class that i’ve really been excited or at least somewhat inspired about has been Directed Study. I’ve started work on my final project..the culmination of my Film Scoring studies…my short film! I chose a film called “Blue City” which is an independent film that was in film festivals a few years back, and even won some awards i believe. I have no idea how the original scoring was approached, so I’m excited about working on this one. The film is rather dark in it’s appearance, blue tint throughout, and essentially chronicles how the lives of completely random and different people cross one another, and how this “crossing of paths” affects the parties involved. Calls for an emotional underscore. Totally right up my alley.

Well that’s all for now…but i’ll be making an effort to write in this more often. This post was totally inspired by my old roomate Pat, who is very diligent about writing in his own “online journal”. He’s got entries dating back as far as 1998. His site is located here . His music is pretty hip too..you should check it out. Late.
